Published during the trading card boom of the early Nineties this set comprised of 90 cards featuring the work of popular book cover and fantasy artist Frank Frazetta.
Released in 1991 by Comic Images the first Frazetta Trading Cards series featured 2.5 x 3.5 inch glossy cards featuring a Frazetta painting on one side and a short caption and pencil drawing on the other. The cards were randomly shuffled and shipped in packs of 10 in a sealed plastic packet. Unusually for trading cards published at that time there were no chase cards in the collection.
This first series (two more followed in 1993 and 1994) featured many of Frazetta’s most famous paintings, including those from his ground-breaking Lancer Books Conan series as well as covers for Warren Magazines.
Here are the first 15 cards in the set – click on the images to enlarge.
Please note: some of the paintings feature mild nudity.
